Job Description

Commercial Carpenter (Commercial Construction) Lead Projects. Build High-Quality Work. Earn Prevailing Wages. We're seeking an experienced Commercial Carpenter to take charge on diverse commercial construction projects. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll guide a crew, deliver top-tier craftsmanship, and play a key part in bringing complex builds to life.

As a Commercial Carpenter, you'll be a part of high-profile projects across the capital region — balancing crew management, project execution, and high-quality craftsmanship: Lead and supervise a crew of carpenters and laborers to keep projects on track and running safely. Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to plan and execute work efficiently. Perform layout and establish accurate measurements for all phases of construction. Install metal framing, drywall, exterior framing, sheathing, doors, windows, and finishes. Complete both rough and finish carpentry work, including trim, molding, and detailed installations. Inspect and repair existing structures and ensure all work meets quality standards. Coordinate with other trades to keep projects on schedule and within scope. Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site. Communicate clearly with your crew and leadership to address challenges quickly. What You Bring. We're looking for a leader who is dependable, detail-oriented, and confident running job sites: 2+ years of experience as a Foreman or Lead Carpenter in commercial or residential remodel construction. Strong work history in commercial carpentry. Proven ability to lead and manage crews on active construction sites. Ability to read blueprints and perform accurate layout work. Experience with metal/steel framing, drywall, exterior systems, and finish carpentry. Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in commercial construction. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. OSHA 10 certification. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work physically demanding tasks and stay active throughout the day. What Sets You Apart. Experience on schools, municipal buildings, retail, or mixed-use commercial projects. You'll work on a variety of 100% commercial job sites , including schools, offices, government buildings, and retail spaces: Monday-Friday schedule starting at 7:00 AM. Overtime available during the week and occasional Saturdays. Hands-on, active work using industry-standard tools and equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Schenectady, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
