Shift SHIFT:
2nd Day in the Life On 2nd shift, you'll arrive to a clean, organized finishing area and review the day's work orders. You'll set up and fine-tune a high-speed carton windowing line, load paperboard blanks and window film rolls, and calibrate adhesive systems and placement guides. As production ramps, you'll sample product, verify registration, adhesion, and film placement, and dial in the run to hit target speeds with minimal waste. Throughout the shift, you'll log counts, downtime, and scrap, partner closely with quality control and finishing teammates, and keep customer orders moving on schedule. What You'll Do Set up and adjust windowing machines for each job run. Load paperboard blanks and plastic window film; align to job specifications. Calibrate glue systems and placement guides for accuracy. Perform in-run quality checks on registration, adhesion, and film placement. Run at target speeds while meeting quality standards.
Inspect for defects:
misaligned windows, glue overflow, scratches, or wrinkles.
Complete production and quality documentation:
counts, downtime, and waste. Collaborate with QC and finishing teams to quickly resolve issues.
Conduct routine preventive maintenance:
cleaning, lubrication, part replacement. Troubleshoot minor mechanical or electrical issues to minimize downtime. Follow plant safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, PPE, and housekeeping. Work with feeders, packers, and helpers to maximize efficiency. Communicate with supervisors on status, materials, and mechanical needs. Support training for apprentices or new team members. What You Bring Hands-on experience on finishing/packaging machinery, ideally in folding cartons or print/packaging. Mechanical aptitude for setups, adjustments, and light maintenance. Sharp attention to detail and adherence to quality standards. Ability to read job tickets, work orders, and quality specs. Comfort with basic math and measurements. Preferred Direct experience on windowing machines. Familiarity with adhesives, films, and board substrates for folding cartons. Forklift certification or experience moving materials safely. Physical & Work Environment Stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs throughout the shift. Operate in a manufacturing setting with noise, dust, and moving equipment. Ability to work overtime and adjust to flexible schedules based on production.
