Reentry & Recovery Location:
Juneau Exemption Status:
No Pay Grade(s): 8/9 ($27.79 - 30.56+ DOE) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. A comprehensive set of capabilities required to perform job tasks effectively:

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and handle sensitive situations
  • Basic computer skills (case management systems, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach
  • Ability to de-escalate challenging situations
  • Lived experience with recovery or reentry (valued but not required) Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills):
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver's license
  • Experience working with justice-involved individuals, people in recovery, or vulnerable populations Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, skills):
  • Peer support certification
  • Associate degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related field preferred Physical Requirements. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:
  • Some travel may be required on small aircraft or ferry.
  • Certain positions at Tlingit and Haida may have exposure to certain hazardous materials or conditions.

Purpose:
The Reentry & Recovery Case Manager Assistant supports individuals transitioning from incarceration, treatment programs, or unstable living situations into stable, independent lives. This role works closely with R&R Case Manager(s) to coordinate services, track progress, and provide hands-on support to clients navigating recovery, housing, employment, and community reintegration. This position plays a critical role in reducing recidivism, supporting long-term recovery, and helping individuals build stable, productive lives within their communities. Essential Functions. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Assist case managers in developing and implementing individualized case plans
  • Help coordinate access to housing, healthcare, mental health services, substance use treatment, tribal resources, employment services, and other community resources as indicated in case plan.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date client records and documentation in the Electronic Health Records System
  • At direction of Case Managers, conduct client check-ins to monitor progress and identify needs
  • Provide transportation assistance or accompany clients to appointments when needed
  • Support clients in completing applications (housing, jobs, benefits, IDs, etc.)
  • Facilitate or assist with group sessions, workshops, or life skills training
  • Track and document client outcomes, including at time of discharge and six months after discharge
  • Build relationships with community partners and service providers
