Job Description

Medical Assistant (Pediatrics) About Southside Pediatrics Southside Pediatrics is a privately owned pediatric practice dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to infants, children, and adolescents. Position Summary We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our growing pediatric team. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, communicates well with families, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role is essential to keeping clinic flow efficient while ensuring every patient receives excellent care and every family feels welcomed and supported. Responsibilities Room patients and obtain vital signs, height, weight, head circumference, and other age-appropriate measurements Update medications, allergies, pharmacy, and medical history Administer vaccines and medications as ordered Perform point-of-care testing, including rapid strep, influenza, RSV, COVID-19, urinalysis, hemoglobin, and lead testing Conduct vision and hearing screenings Assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection Prepare and stock exam rooms Maintain vaccine inventory and monitor storage temperatures Document accurately in the electronic health record Provide patient education and reinforce provider instructions Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and forms as needed Complete opening and closing duties Protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations Handle protected health information (PHI) securely and appropriately Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA) or equivalent experience Current BLS certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire Pediatric experience preferred Experience with is a plus Knowledge of HIPAA, infection control, and standard clinical safety practices Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a team setting What We're Looking For The ideal candidate: Genuinely enjoys working with children and families Demonstrates kindness, patience, and professionalism Maintains strict confidentiality and discretion Is reliable, punctual, and accountable Takes initiative and anticipates team needs Maintains a positive attitude in a busy environment Values teamwork and clear communication Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Paid time off Supportive and collaborative work environment Opportunities for professional growth and development Why Join Southside Pediatrics?
