324714 Job Description Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)

Compensation Range:

$38-45/hour

Location:

Newport, NH; Onsite - School Setting

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

Direct Intervention:

Provide individual and group therapy sessions as outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans.

Skill Development:

Target foundational skills including handwriting, scissor skills, visual-motor integration, and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) like zipping coats or opening lunch containers.

Sensory Support:

Implement "sensory diets" and classroom movement breaks to help students maintain a "ready-to-learn" state.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the supervising OTR/L to adjust treatment plans and attend IEP meetings to report on student progress.

Consultation:

Partner with classroom teachers to suggest environmental modifications (e.g., adaptive seating, slant boards) and inclusive strategies.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate, timely logs of services provided and collect data on student goals for quarterly progress reports. Schedule /

Licensure:

Valid NH State License/Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Experience:

Prior experience in a pediatric or school-based setting is highly preferred.

Specialized Knowledge:

Familiarity with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), sensory processing disorders, and assistive technology.

Soft Skills:

A "student-first" heart, the ability to pivot when a lesson doesn't go as planned, and excellent communication skills with parents and staff.
