The Silvercrest Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is a 320-bed skilled nursing facility located in Briarwood, Queens, and is part of the New York Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network. We specialize in providing care to residents with complex acute conditions, including those on ventilators, as well as subacute, post-acute, and in-patient hospice long-term care services. As a Patient-Centered Care facility, Silvercrest is recognized for having New York State's largest and nationally acclaimed respiratory/ventilator-dependent care program.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (C.O.T.A.) to join our team. As a C.O.T.A., you will be responsible for performing direct resident care under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. You will play a vital role in supporting residents' rehabilitation and enhancing their quality of life through personalized occupational therapy treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer occupational therapy treatments as prescribed by the Occupational Therapist. Assist with tests, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures. Document residents' conditions, reactions, and responses to treatments. Maintain accurate records of treatments and progress notes. Collaborate with family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as needed. Assist in the maintenance and management of the therapy department and equipment. Participate in in-service training programs and meetings as assigned. Stay current with continuing education and clinical advancements. Adhere to all regulatory, professional, and company standards. Contribute to team conferences regarding resident progress. Ensure efficient resource allocation in alignment with resident goals and discharge plans. Uphold the company's commitment to compassionate care and professionalism.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, push, lift, and stoop for prolonged periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and more with assistance. Maintain balance and stability on slippery or uneven surfaces.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current license or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice. Experience in a similar healthcare setting preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow directions and comply with facility procedures. Why Join Us?
