Certified Scrub Tech - Labor & Delivery (Nights)

The L&D Scrub Technician assists with patient care, setting up rooms for deliveries, etc., in the Labor & Delivery setting and is responsible for the preparation of, as well as providing, technical assistance to physicians during the performance of c-sections. He/she is responsible for care, cleaning, and maintenance of specialized equipment, instruments, rooms, and supplies. Basic patient care functions are performed within established guidelines under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Required Knowledge & Skills

Qualifications Basic computer knowledge. Experience six to 12 months on-the-job training. BLS Certification (may be obtained within 6 months of employment). NALS (NRP) Certification (May be obtained within first 6 months of employment). The CST I is entry level CST that has recently graduated from an approved Surgical Technology program or an uncertified surgical technologist with 1 year experience. Able to scrub independently in all specialties. Establishes and maintains the efficacy of the sterile field. Utilizes instruments, equipment, etc., in an appropriate manner.

PARTICIPATION IN THE GENERAL UNIT OPERATION

Responsibly manages resources in a conscientious manner. Participates in the cleaning and storage of equipment in compliance with Infection Prevention standards. Participates in process improvement initiatives for the department and facility as directed.
