JOB SUMMARY
The Charge Respiratory Therapist at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for managing and directing clinical activities within the assigned facility. Scope includes ensuring staff clinical proficiency, maintaining regulatory compliance, managing equipment and supplies, and providing direct patient care. The incumbent must possess a Registered Respiratory Therapist certification, hold relevant credentials, and demonstrate strong leadership skills to optimize patient care and facilitate effective teamwork. |
  • JOB•FUNCTIONS•| |•| • Employee Relations•Responsible for the training and development of personnel for the Respiratory Department.
  • Performance Monitoring
  • Responsible for assuring staff clinical proficiency on equipment and procedures through the Competency Assessment Tracking.
  • System (CATS), cost effective utilization of resources, and progress toward departmental goals.
  • Responsible for developing, revising and testing all electronic charting components of respiratory services.
  • Management
  • Responsible for directing clinical activities of Respiratory Care.
  • Provide input to the Manager of Respiratory Care regarding or pertaining to annual Excel evaluations.
  • Regulatory Knowledge
  • Must maintain current knowledge of all applicable regulatory guidelines, including reimbursement policies for Respiratory services and assure compliance.
  • Equipment and Supplies
  • Assure sufficient/acceptable equipment and supplies for quality patient care.
  • Clinical Reference
  • Must maintain a high level of clinical and administrative knowledge To serve as a resource for staff, other department managers, physicians and administration.
Therapeutic Modalities:
  • Ventilatory management, recommend and administer therapeutic regime.
Airway management.
Diagnostic:
  • Assess and perform acid base, ventilation, oxygenation, quality control and diagnostic procedures.
Assessment:
  • Clinical and physical assessment to assure individualized patient focused therapy.
Documentation:
  • Maintain records to provide complete clinical Information and assure accurate patient charging.
Equipment:
  • Select, assemble, assure proper function and perform quality control while maintaining infection control.
Education:
  • Teach patients, family members or caregivers; provide learning opportunities for students and/or groups.
  • Customer Service
  • Responds to customer issues and recommends and implements action for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Education Level Education Details Required/Preferred Other (Experience) Must be a graduate of a respiratory program approved by CoARC, and NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist.   • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner Must maintain licensure by the state Required And NALS
  • Neonatal Advanced Life Support Must hold the NBRC Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist Credential, and maintain the Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications. Required And PALS
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Required Work Experience Number of Years Work Experience Details Required/ Preferred 4-6 years Minimum of (5) years experience in Respiratory Care Required And 1-3 years Experience with performance and management of reporting services Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required/Preferred Proficiency Must maintain knowledge and skills to care for all primary adult, pediatric, adolescent, and neonatal patients, and a working knowledge of care of geriatric patients Required N/A Must provide a positive leadership model for the staff of the Respiratory services.
