Job Description

Charge RN, Emergency Department is a high-impact night position for an ambitious emergency nursing leader ready to guide fast-paced care, drive outcomes, and elevate team performance at a trusted hospital in Southeastern North Carolina 🚑.

Within Emergency Services, the Charge RN serves inside a community-owned, not-for-profit health system with strong local governance and mission-driven culture, in a primary acute care hospital serving as a regional access point, supported by broad service lines for a rural market, including emergency, surgery, orthopedics, cardiology, oncology, women's health, and imaging, connected to an integrated provider network with employed physicians and advanced practice providers across multiple specialties; recognized as a key regional employer with long-standing community presence and strong workforce stability, and propelled by an ongoing emphasis on quality improvement and expanding specialty care access within the region.

Reporting to the Emergency Department Nurse Manager and partnering with the Director of Emergency Services and House Supervisor, the Charge RN, Emergency Department leads night-shift staffing, patient flow, triage accuracy, time-sensitive protocols (stroke, STEMI, trauma, sepsis), EMS and physician coordination, and safety initiatives; supported by friendly nurses and a diverse interprofessional team, the Charge RN, Emergency Department mentors peers, fosters Just Culture, and ensures readiness through real-time dashboards and evidence-based pathways. Candidates earning quick interviews have at least three years of healthcare experience in a hospital setting, preferably in emergency services or critical care.
