80 Req #: 12158 Position Summary The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading the service and maintenance all mechanical/ electrical systems of the hospital including but not limited to: high pressure boilers, hot water boilers, chillers, building automation systems, and HVAC equipment. This position will be responsible for supervising the work of other Boiler Operators as well as performing duties of Boiler Operator as required. Insures safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Boiler Room in accordance with good engineering practice. Core Responsibilities

• Evaluation of Boiler Operator's performance, including productivity, attendance, and quality of work performed for all shifts, with respect to all forms of discipline including termination
• Makes operational and technical recommendations to the Director of Plant Operations that will result in improving operating efficiency of the Medical Center Facilities
• New employee interviewing, hiring, and training process
• Respond to the hospital in the event of an emergency or natural disaster
• Participate in annual budget process and capital planning
• Coach team members within the department to meet department and hospital standards
• Assist with the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and guidelines
• Oversees/performs preventative maintenance while improving productivity, cost, and quality
• Maintain records & reports as required by JCAHO, EPA and state of New Jersey such as permits Qualifications
• Black Seal In Charge License required/Blue Seal License preferred
• 10+ years Acute Care Hospital Boiler Room operation experience
• 5+ years Management experience
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics
• Ability to operate and maintain hospital high pressure boilers, hot water boilers, chillers, building automation systems, HVAC equipment
• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems
• Excellent mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
• Computer proficiency, with excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the physical strength to lift heavy objects, carts, or items frequently

Salary Range:

$75,000 - $100,000 annually Additional information
