Job Description
We seek a dependable and dedicated Assistant Teacher who will support the intellectual and psychological development of children in our care. The successful candidate will instruct and oversee students, fostering the use of their cognitive abilities and encouraging imaginative engagement. Job requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting the lead teacher with classroom responsibilities, implementing lesson plans, addressing children's needs, maintaining the classroom environment, and following health and safety protocols when the lead teacher is absent.
- Meeting professional development requirements, specifically completing 16 hours of training annually.
- Assist children with daily activities, including restroom use, diapering, hand washing, and feeding.
- Maintain professional conduct and adhere to the values of Hometown Childcare.
- Facilitate activities and play that support children's development.
- Supervise children appropriately to ensure their safety at all times.
- Create and sustain an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children.
- Engage children in activities and play that promote their development.
- Approach parents daily to discuss their child(ren) and build a professional rapport with each family to ensure quality care and friendly service.
- Participate in occasional parent involvement events and other activities, including those held on evenings and weekends.
- Physical ability should allow for frequent bending, stooping, sitting on the floor, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- An openness to receiving feedback that supports the growth and success of both students and teachers
- A passion for teaching children and observing their development
- Center hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PMpart/full-time hours available.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency Be willing to submit to a comprehensive background check. CPR certified, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen Training Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom. Assistant Caregivers must be at least 18 years of age and meet all child daycare licensing guidelines required by the state of Michigan. This position is specifally for our infant classroom.Job Types:
