Church Pianist

Overview Join Walden Community Church, where your musical talents will uplift the congregation during worship services and special events. This role offers the opportunity to accompany congregational singing and collaborate closely with the director of music to create a welcoming and worshipful atmosphere. We seek a skilled pianist committed to enhancing worship through expressive and skillful playing. Duties Prepare piano selections for weekly worship services, including hymns, communion, choir pieces, and special musical selections Collaborate with the director of music to select appropriate music that aligns with service themes and special events Accompany congregational singing by providing engaging and supportive piano selections that encourages participation Rehearse regularly to ensure the proper flow of service and seamless transitions Assist in maintaining the church's piano, ensuring that any service needs and/or tunings are communicated to the director of music Provide special musical arrangements for events such as holiday services, weddings, and memorials Qualifications Actively lives out a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and supports the vision of the church Proven proficiency in piano performance with a strong understanding of music theory and sight-reading skills Experience accompanying choirs and ministering in a church setting is preferred Knowledge of church music repertoire across various genres and styles, including traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs Ability to collaborate effectively with the director of music, choir members, and other musicians Ability to play by ear, play from lead sheets/chord charts and transpose to different keys is preferred Strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a commitment to supporting the pastor, director of music and spiritual mission of the church Ability to adapt to different service formats and accommodate diverse musical styles This part-time position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact through music while being part of a supportive church family dedicated to reaching our community for Christ.
