Job Description

As the Cigar Shop Lead, you will oversee the full operation of a luxury cigar and spirits destination while creating elevated guest experiences that reflect Forbes-level hospitality standards. You will curate a distinguished portfolio of cigars, scotch, bourbon, whiskey, and rye, while designing immersive tastings, private events, seasonal activations, and vendor collaborations that drive engagement and revenue. This role blends operational leadership, beverage expertise, storytelling, and relationship management to deliver refined experiences for discerning guests. Your presence, product knowledge, and ability to lead sophisticated programming will position the Cigar Shop as a premier luxury offering within the resort experience. What You Will Create Create exceptional guest experiences through curated whiskey tastings, cigar pairings, brand showcases, seasonal releases, and exclusive events designed for luxury clientele. Lead the complete operation of the Cigar Shop, ensuring elevated presentation standards, seamless daily execution, and consistent alignment with the resort's luxury brand positioning. Curate and evolve a distinguished portfolio of scotch, bourbon, whiskey, rye, and cigars, maintaining quality, rarity, and guest appeal. Host recurring whiskey tastings, cigar-themed events, scotch dinners, cigar rolling experiences, and other specialty activations that enhance guest engagement and increase revenue opportunities. Deliver refined VIP experiences, including masterclasses, private tastings, cellar experiences, and personalized pairing events for high-profile guests. Build strong vendor partnerships and negotiate commission-based promotions, incentive programs, and collaborative activations related to cigars and spirits. Develop compelling written content including tasting notes, pairing recommendations, brand storytelling, and event marketing materials that enhance guest connection and product knowledge. Lead beverage and tasting education for Food & Beverage associates, including service standards, tasting techniques, product knowledge, and storytelling presentation. Maintain accurate cigar inventory controls, rare product allocations, aging logs, and proper storage protocols to protect product integrity and operational standards. Provide operational support within the Hardy Room as business demands require, ensuring continuity of service and luxury-level guest experiences. Frequent interaction with discerning guests, VIP clientele, vendors, and cross-functional resort leadership. A schedule that includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and special event coverage in alignment with hospitality operations. Hands-on involvement with event execution, beverage programming, inventory management, and cellar operations. Physical activity including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 40 pounds, and navigating stairs or cellar environments. What You Bring A polished and confident presence with the ability to engage sophisticated guests through elevated storytelling and personalized service. Strong knowledge of premium cigars, whiskey, scotch, bourbon, rye, and luxury beverage culture. The ability to lead engaging tastings, educational experiences, and high-touch events with professionalism and credibility. Strong business acumen with experience managing vendor relationships, promotional partnerships, and revenue-driving initiatives. Exceptional organizational skills with close attention to inventory accuracy, product quality, and operational detail. Adaptability and composure in a dynamic hospitality environment where priorities may shift quickly. A collaborative leadership style that supports associate development, training, and consistent service excellence across departments. Qualifications Whiskey Certified and Cicerone Certified required. Cigar Certification required. Proven success designing beverage programs, guest activations, and vendor-supported events. Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage commissions, rebates, and vendor incentive programs. Exceptional presentation, communication, and guest service skills, including comfort leading experiences for high-profile clientele. Strong organizational and inventory management capabilities required. Cellar experience required. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and navigate stairs or cellar environments.
