Job Description

Overview City Maintenance plays a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance operations of city facilities and infrastructure. This position requires strong leadership and management skills to ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in municipal maintenance, mechanical knowledge, and facilities management, along with experience in supervising seasonal help. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety and compliance while managing various maintenance projects. Duties Supervise and lead a team of maintenance personnel to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks. Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment. Oversee project management for facility upgrades, repairs, and renovations. Provide training and support to team members on best practices in maintenance procedures. Complete and file all forms necessary for water and sewer compliance. Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc., to assure control of equipment and supplies. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory management. Receive written work orders or verbal instruction from the City Administrator. Monitor City owned wells. Operate City Lagoon, maintain lift stations, flush and maintain sewer lines. Adjust and maintain manholes. Obtain drinking water samples and lagoon samples. Submit for analysis as necessary. Cut grass and trim weeds on city property and parks using gardening tools. Clean designated buildings, empty trash cans, using brooms, and cleaning supplies. Paint interior and exterior walls and trim using painting tools. Drive truck to load fallen tree limbs and roadside trash onto truck and deliver refuse to the landfill. Repair streets and sidewalks with asphalt and cold patching materials, and concrete, using Durapatcher, shovel and hand roller, trowel, level and long handled tamp. Operate snow removal equipment to maintain streets, sidewalks, driveways, and alleys. Maintain and repair city buildings, plumbing and electrical systems, including worn and defective parts, such as switches and fuses. Repair or replace building bricks , stones and concrete. Maintain and repair wood parts of buildings, using carpenter tools. Change oil and replace worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring and belts in machines and equipment such as trucks, street sweeper and riding vehicles. Operate front-end loader and blade to maintain city alleys and bank erosion at city lagoon. Supervise water break repairs, keeping a record of time and repairs required to ensure that such services are performed correctly. Maintain a map of water lines and water line breaks. Inspect and repair water meters. Maintain inert landfill and compost site. Sweep streets. Maintain street signs. Put up and take down seasonal decorations. Attend monthly council meetings Maintain 40 hours weekly except during emergencies. Haul scoria or gravel as needed. Mow Grass Experience Must possess, as a minimum, a High School Diploma or GED Must be able to pass water certification test Proven experience in a supervisory role within a maintenance or facilities management environment. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members. Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Candidates who possess these qualifications will be well-equipped to excel as a City Maintenance Supervisor, ensuring that city facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
