Job Description

Civil Litigation Attorney Location:
Grosse Pointe, MI Compensation:
$70,000 $90,000 per year (Commensurate with experience)
Employment Type:
Full-Time Position Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Litigation Attorney with 24 years of experience to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will handle a diverse caseload focusing on civil defense and general litigation. This role is perfect for an associate who has mastered the basics of discovery and is ready to take the next step in managing their own files, attending hearings, and preparing for trial.
Key Responsibilities Case Management:
Manage all aspects of civil defense litigation from inception through resolution or trial.
Legal Research & Writing:
Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft high-quality pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal memoranda.
Discovery:
Draft and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions. Conduct and defend depositions of parties and expert witnesses.
Advocacy:
Represent clients in court for various proceedings, including status conferences, motion hearings, and mediations.
Client Relations:
Maintain regular communication with clients, insurance carriers, and claims adjusters to provide case updates and strategic recommendations.
Trial Prep:
Assist lead counsel in trial preparation, including exhibit management, witness prep, and drafting jury instructions.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
Licensure:
Must be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in civil litigation (defense experience preferred).
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar legal research tools. Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. #troy
