Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in the life of a student by supporting their growth and daily success in a committed elementary school environment. This contract opportunity involves providing dedicated 1:1 assistance to a fourth-grade student who experiences significant internal social and emotional challenges, including frequent ideation that requires vigilant and compassionate supervision.
Key Qualifications:
Valid GaPSC Paraprofessional Certification (or in progress, with the ability to obtain before the start date) Preferred experience as a paraprofessional or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach in supporting students with emotional and behavioral needs Strong communication skills with the ability to follow individualized plans and collaborate with teaching staff
Responsibilities:
Offer direct 1:1 support to a fourth-grade student, monitoring emotional well-being and de-escalating situations as needed Provide supervision and assistance during transitions, including restroom breaks, with sensitivity and respect for the student's privacy Document observations and progress, maintaining consistent communication with the educational team Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment in the classroom and during all school-related activities Adapt strategies as directed by school specialists to meet the evolving needs of the student Working in this role, you'll build valuable experience in special education settings, deepen your expertise in supporting students with complex needs, and collaborate within a caring educational community.
