Responsibilities Our Family Medicine clinic is seeking a dependable, patient-focused Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist to join our growing team. This role supports both laboratory and clinical operations by performing phlebotomy services, assisting with patient care activities, and helping ensure efficient clinic workflows. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional patient experiences in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Responsibilities Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection following established safety and patient identification protocols Prepare and process laboratory specimens for routine testing Document patient information and laboratory activities accurately in the electronic health record Assist providers and clinical staff with obtaining patient vital signs and preparing patients for examinations Maintain laboratory quality control, equipment maintenance, and compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and safety standards Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members to support coordinated patient care Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a professional and positive clinic environment Participate in ongoing education, competency training, and departmental initiatives Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous phlebotomy experience or certification preferred Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant, LPN, or RN program preferred CMA certification or current Iowa nursing license preferred Current BLS certification required or ability to obtain upon hire Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, and high-quality careSimilar remote jobs
