Job Description
K-12. BGCCO
serves 4,000 youth per year throughout Central Ohio. Position Summary The Club Director oversees daily operations of assigned clubhouse location(s) and is accountable for creating a safe, welcoming, and high‑quality Club environment that supports positive youth development outcomes. The Club Director leads and develops staff, ensures effective implementation of BGCA and BGCCO programming, and fosters strong relationships with families and the surrounding community in alignment with regional strategy . The Club Director owns day‑to‑day site performance, safety, staffing, culture, and program quality, while partnering with Regional Directors, Programs, Business Operations, and other support teams to execute organizational priorities. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities Programs & Youth Development Oversee the implementation and quality of Club programs, activities, and services to ensure they meet stated objectives and the needs and interests of members. Ensure consistent youth engagement and program quality through observations, coaching, and pulse checks . Support continuous quality improvement (CQI) by overseeing monitoring processes and reviewing program data and outcomes related to youth achievement. Ensure the administration of Pulse Checks, NYOI, DESSA, and other required assessment tools with the support of the Assistant Director/Club Coordinator , in alignment with Program Team guidance. Ensure staff are implementing lesson plans, basic observations, and youth engagement practices consistent with BGCA and BGCCO expectations. Safety & Operations Ensure a safe, healthy, clean, and appealing Club facility at all times. Maintain accountability for site‑level safety culture , emergency preparedness, and mandated reporting requirements. Ensure all employees, volunteers, and visitors follow organizational safety protocols, procedures, and standards . Communicate and enforce organization‑wide policies and procedures at the club level . Ensure critical incidents and mandated reports are handled appropriately and that required notifications to Regional Directors occur promptly. Personnel Management & Leadership Supervise, coach, and support a team of direct reports. Foster a high‑performance Club culture that reflects BGCCO values of integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence. Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance management; document staff progress and disciplinary actions in accordance with organizational procedures. Ensure effective onboarding and ongoing development of Youth Development Professionals in alignment with BGCCO standards and Program Team guidance. Recruit, hire, and onboard Assistant Directors/Club Coordinators in consultation with HR and Programs, as applicable . Club Administration & Business Operations Execute against the approved club‑level budget and control expenditures within approved allocations . Provide site‑level input during the annual budget development process, as requested. Oversee club‑level metrics and reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and accountability. Oversee meal service operations , including verifying vendor deliveries, ensuring compliance with meal count procedures, and reviewing monthly meal count records and logs completed by designated staff. Ensure administrative systems and processes (e.g., MyClub Hub) are functioning effectively, with data entry and routine administration performed by designated staff . Volunteer & Partnership Support Oversee site‑level volunteer engagement and activation , ensuring volunteers comply with onboarding and safety processes in coordination with Business Operations. Support site‑specific volunteer activities and community engagement initiatives as appropriate. Participate in partnerships and community initiatives in support of Regional Director strategy ; does not independently establish or negotiate formal partnerships or agreements. Community & Family Engagement Maintain positive relationships with parents, caregivers, schools, and community stakeholders in alignment with regional direction and priorities . Provide an exceptional customer service experience for members, families, and visitors. Support club‑level outreach and recruitment efforts to meet or exceed attendance targets, consistent with regional goals. Additional Responsibilities Ensure completion of required CACFP and SFSP training and certifications for self and/or designated staff, as applicable. May serve as an assigned driver for Club activities in accordance with organizational policies, when required. Participate in club tours, special events, and other activities as needed. Perform other duties as assigned that support safe and effective Club operations. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree from an accredited institution or a minimum of two (2) years of equivalent experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth‑serving organization. Demonstrated experience supervising staff and leading teams. Knowledge of youth development principles and out‑of‑school‑time programming. Ability to earn and maintain CPR and First Aid certification. Valid Ohio Driver's License and ability to meet organizational driving requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and organizational data systems. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Physical Requirements Ability to manage a fast‑paced youth program environment for extended periods, move throughout program spaces, and perform duties requiring standing, walking, bending, and use of office equipment. Work is performed primarily within Club or school sites and may include limited off‑site activities.
