CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION

Provide direct care to residents, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with facility policy and all federal, state and local regulations. This position is a safety sensitive position as defined by applicable state law.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing and currently licensed by the state.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing and currently licensed by the state. Must meet all local health regulations. Must complete of additional education as offered by facility and be able to read and write in a legible and understandable manner. Must maintain regular attendance and display good time management capabilities. Must be flexible and able to handle change easily and professionally and maintain a positive attitude. Communicate with residents, families and staff in a professional and tactful manner. Be a role model of professionalism and teamwork. Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB

Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, fine hand coordination, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions; ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel, vendors and consultants; ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures; and ability to remain calm under stress

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assuring resident safety. Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing policies and procedures. Identify resident problems and concerns and report them immediately to a charge nurse or a licensed nurse. Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately. Conduct resident rounds as assigned. Report changes in residents' conditions to Charge Nurse or Nurse Supervisor. Initiate corrective action as necessary and/or seek assistance of a licensed nurse. Identify safety hazards and emergency situations and initiate corrective action. Attend all in-service classes as assigned and complete assignments. Assume personal responsibility for following facility procedures related to control of equipment and supplies within the work area. Document incidents and/or unusual problems according to established facility procedures. Review care plans and perform nursing care as outlined. Document the care and treatment provided to the resident and the resident's response or lack of response to care provided. Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information. Complete documentation accurately, timely and in accordance with policies and procedures. Assure residents have call lights at hand and answer call lights promptly. Assure residents are given adequate assistance with personal and oral hygiene needs. Assist residents with activities of daily living. Assure residents are given adequate assistance with meals, nourishment and transportation to meal service area. Work cooperatively with residents, charge nurses, treatment nurses, restorative nurses,other nursing assistants, physicians, families, and all other facility personnel. Observe all facility safety policies and procedures, infection control procedures, and other applicable nursing policies and procedures. These duties and responsibilities are not a comprehensive list, and additional tasks may be assigned from time to time. The scope of this position may change as necessitated by business demands.
