Job Description

Desoto Retirement is looking for an RN for a CNA class instructor. A CNA Class Instructor (RN) teaches, mentors, and evaluates nursing assistant students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings. Responsibilities include delivering state-approved curriculum, supervising patient care, ensuring clinical compliance, tracking student performance, and preparing them for certification. They ensure high-quality training and safety.
Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum:
Plan and conduct classroom lectures and skills labs covering nursing fundamentals, such as vital signs, hygiene, and patient safety.
Clinical Supervision:
On-site supervision of students in clinical settings (long-term care, nursing homes) to ensure proper patient care and safety.
Evaluation & Compliance:
Assess student competencies via exams and practical demonstrations, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and clinical hours.
Mentorship:
Act as a positive role model, fostering an environment of empathy and professionalism.
Requirements & Qualifications Licensure:
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
Experience:
Typically 2+ years of experience as a nurse, often with specific long-term care (SNF) experience.
Certification:
Completion of a state-approved "Train the Trainer" workshop or equivalent experience. Skills Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations. Proficiency in bedside nursing skills and patient care procedures.
