Job Title:
CNC Machine Operator Job Description This is an opportunity for a hands-on CNC Operator to set up and operate production machinery in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. The role focuses on precise machine setup, operation, and inspection of parts using measurement tools, while following strict safety and quality standards. The position offers structured training on first shift before transitioning to second or third shift and requires a high level of attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to learn multiple machines. Responsibilities Set up machines according to instructions and specifications, including performing tool changes as required. Place and secure tooling on the machine table, holding devices, or other appropriate surfaces using clamps, wrenches, and related tools. Calculate material removal from parts to ensure adherence to specifications and tolerances. Set gauges to measure outside diameter (OD), inside diameter (ID), three-point race, and offset dimensions. Adjust and operate machine controls to regulate cutting speeds, feed rates, and other operating parameters. Perform inspections of parts using micrometers, calipers, and measurement gauges to verify quality and accuracy. Determine whether machinery is operating properly based on specifications and expected performance of fixtures, cutting speeds, and feed rates. Sign off paperwork accurately to maintain job documentation, traceability, and consistency. Follow all plant safety regulations and consistently wear required personal protective equipment. Support departmental performance goals by maintaining productivity, quality, and efficiency standards. Learn and operate multiple types of machines as needed to support production demands. Take responsibility for the quality of work produced and promptly address any nonconformities. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with workplace standards. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status, issues, and improvement opportunities. Perform other machining and related duties as assigned to support production and operational needs. Essential Skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and leadership. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate setup, operation, and inspection of parts. Ability to sign off paperwork accurately to maintain job accuracy, traceability, and consistency. Ability to work safely and consistently wear and use personal protective equipment. Ability to perform inspections and take responsibility for overall work quality. Ability to use and read micrometers, calipers, and measurement gauges. Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly for instructions, documentation, and safety communication. Ability to work independently in a high-stress, fast-paced production environment. Ability to determine whether machinery is working properly based on specifications and expectations such as fixtures, cutting speeds, and feed rates. Competence in general math to support measurements, calculations, and material removal estimates. Some knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for basic documentation and communication. Ability to move and lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Ability to bend, stretch, and climb to access various parts of machines safely. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Ability to pass a near vision eye test to Jaeger 1 and a color perception test. Willingness to comply with random drug testing requirements in a regulated environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in production or manufacturing is a plus but not required; candidates must be trainable and willing to learn. Experience with machine operation, machine setup, or machine technician work is beneficial. Experience in inspection of parts and use of gauges is advantageous. Familiarity with hand tools, including wrenches, clamps, and tape measures, is helpful. Ability to maintain consistent attendance and reliability, including arriving on time and being present for scheduled shifts. Ability to remain focused on work tasks without engaging in non-work activities at the workstation. Comfort working in an FAA-regulated environment with adherence to strict quality and compliance standards. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based on a climate-controlled factory floor with moderate machine noise and requires consistent use of personal protective equipment. The dress code is business casual, with a blue coat worn in the work area and steel-toe footwear required. All tools needed for the job are provided. The standard training schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on first shift for approximately three months. After training, the position transitions to either second shift (Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) or third shift (Monday through Friday, 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.), with occasional overtime and weekend work as needed. The work involves standing, bending, stretching, climbing to access machine components, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The environment follows strict safety and quality procedures, including eye and color vision standards and random drug testing in line with regulatory requirements. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
