- Full-time CNC Mill Machinist 1st & 2nd Shift CNC Mill Machinist 1st & 2nd Shift Position Overview We are seeking experienced CNC Mill Machinists for 1st and 2nd shift to program, set up, and operate vertical and horizontal CNC milling machines.
The role focuses on producing high-quality, precision parts from metal and plastic using G-code and CAM-generated programs, ensuring dimensional accuracy, maintaining production schedules, and supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, and monitor CNC milling machines (vertical and horizontal) to produce parts to print and specification. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining requirements. Create, edit, and optimize G-code programs and CAM-generated programs to improve cycle time and part quality. Load tooling, fixtures, and workholding; perform machine offsets and tool calibration. Perform in-process and final inspection using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM) and document inspection results. Troubleshoot machine and program issues, make necessary adjustments, and communicate changes to engineering or supervision. Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic repairs on equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation. Maintain accurate job traveler, production, and quality documentation and update CNC program revisions. Follow safety protocols, lean manufacturing practices, and continuous improvement initiatives to support productivity and quality goals. Collaborate with operators, programmers, and engineers to resolve production bottlenecks and implement process improvements. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; technical school or machining certificate preferred. 2+ years of hands-on experience setting up and running CNC milling machines Proficient in G-code programming and editing; experience with CAM systems (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) strongly preferred. Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge to interpret part tolerances and finish requirements. Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges) and basic familiarity with CMM operation. Mechanical aptitude, strong troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail to maintain part quality and minimize scrap. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a production environment. Reliable attendance and the ability to work assigned shifts; willingness to support overtime as needed. Effective communication skills and ability to work within a team and follow supervisory direction. CNC certification (NIMS or equivalent) and prior experience with ISO/TS quality systems are a plus.
