Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Set Up Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up CNC machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components according to engineering specifications. Your expertise in CNC programming, tooling, and measurement will ensure efficient operations and high-quality output. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with CAD/CAM software, and experience with various manufacturing processes such as plastics injection molding and welding.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and technical drawings to ensure accurate setup Program CNC machines using CNC programming languages such as Fanuc or similar controllers Set up CNC lathe and milling machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and calibration devices Operate precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions Adjust machine parameters for optimal performance while maintaining strict quality standards Troubleshoot machine issues, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safety protocols are followed Utilize CAD software like SolidWorks and general CAD tools for part design verification and tooling adjustments Support lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing setup procedures to reduce cycle times Assist in the assembly process when required using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools Maintain accurate documentation of setups, adjustments, and production reports Experience Proven experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment Strong background in CNC programming with knowledge of Fanuc or similar control systems Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings Hands-on experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus Skilled in using precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines Knowledge of CAM programming software for toolpath generation Basic math skills essential for calculating dimensions and tolerances Experience working with plastics injection molding processes is advantageous Ability to operate forklifts and use various hand tools safely Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency improvements If you are a dedicated professional with a passion for precision machining and manufacturing excellence, we encourage you to apply.
