Job Description
Regional West Health Services is an independent, integrated health care delivery system based in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. We are actively looking for caring individuals to join the team as a Coding Specialist. Our mission is a commitment to advancing the health and wellness of the individuals and communities we are honored to serve. To serve this mission, we ask you to review clinical documentation and diagnostic results as appropriate to extract data and apply appropriate codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. As a Coding Specialist, you will:
Code all inpatient/outpatient conditions and procedures according to Official guidelines for Coding and ReportingAccurate and timely assigns codes to the medical record for optimal reimbursement, data collection, and statistical reporting according to quality standardsResolve error reports associated with billing process, identify, and report error patters, and assist with designing workflow changes to reduce billing errors. You may be a good fit if you have:
Completion of an AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate program or equivalent training acquired through at least 2 years of on-the-job experience. RHIA, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, RHIT, or Certified Coding Specialist preferred.2 years of experience required in a medical related field (i.e., medical record dept., physician office practice, or another health care delivery specialist)Helpful CertificationsCertified Processional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A)American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) If this sounds like you, wed love to connect!
