Job Title:
Commercial Door Technician Job Description We are seeking a Commercial Door Technician responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial and automatic door systems throughout the facility. This role ensures all doors operate safely, reliably, and comply with codes and manufacturer standards. Responsibilities Install, service, and repair commercial and automatic door systems. Adjust and troubleshoot door operators, sensors, and hardware. Perform preventive maintenance and safety checks. Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues. Install hardware, frames, and related components. Run low-voltage wiring and follow electrical codes. Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications. Complete work orders and maintain accurate documentation. Safely handle and move large or heavy assemblies. Coordinate with facilities and safety teams on compliance needs. Essential Skills Customer service skills. Experience in installation and repair of commercial and residential doors. Mechanical troubleshooting for tracks, rollers, hinges, springs, operators, and hardware. Electrical and low-voltage knowledge for door operators, sensors, access control, and safety devices. Diagnostics of automatic door systems, including ADA operators, motion sensors, and safety beams. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Preventive maintenance on doors, operators, and related building systems. Knowledge of building codes and safety standards (NFPA, ADA, OSHA). Carpentry and basic fabrication skills. Customer communication and service orientation. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred. 3-5 years of experience in mechanical repair or door installation. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights using ladders or scaffolding. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. The role involves the use of hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment, as well as working at heights using ladders or scaffolding. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fort Worth, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
