Job Title:
Commissioning Engineer / Commissioning Technician Job Description This role focuses on supporting capital projects by commissioning and optimizing basebuild utility and control systems in advanced technology and data center environments. You will work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to integrate construction, design, and commissioning activities, troubleshoot complex control systems, and help clients improve performance and reliability of their critical facilities. Responsibilities Coordinate operations technicians' work schedules and manpower forecasts to support commissioning activities. Manage and track commissioning constraints and deficiencies that affect the schedule or quality of basebuild utility systems after construction installation. Integrate construction and design schedules with commissioning plans and activities to ensure alignment and timely execution. Provide regular reports and updates on schedule adherence, commissioning progress, and quality metrics. Conduct system and facility engineering walk-through assessments to verify installation quality and readiness for commissioning. Troubleshoot control systems and facility issues and perform root cause failure analysis on assigned projects. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in commissioning or construction for instrumentation and controls (I&C) or electrical basebuild systems in the advanced technology sector. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with control systems in a data center or similar industrial environment. Experience with Rockwell Automation platforms, including PLC-5 and ControlLogix hardware and software. Experience working on multi-discipline large capital projects involving owners, general contractors, contractors, and system integrators. Good understanding of design/build project delivery, including both engineering and construction aspects. Strong understanding of complex process systems architecture and design, including instrumentation, device selection, networking, PLC and I/O architectures, P&IDs, data sheets, and SCADA systems. Working knowledge of environments common in large industrial applications such as dry and wet mechanical systems, AWN, gas and chemical distribution, HVAC, and clean room environmental control. Work Environment This is an onsite role based in Wink, Texas, supporting data center and advanced technology facilities. You will typically work around 50 hours per week in an industrial environment that includes exposure to HVAC systems, electrical equipment, building automation systems, and basebuild utility infrastructure. The work involves regular presence in active construction and operational facility areas, including mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, and clean or controlled environments. You will collaborate closely with a team of control system integration professionals, engineering design teams, contractors, and client representatives, using modern commissioning software tools, PLC platforms, BMS and SCADA systems, and standard engineering documentation. Per diem is provided for onsite work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wink, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $62.00/hr.
