Community Events Program and Facility Lead Salary $27.79 - $29.46 Hourly Location Parks Administration, 4400 NE Century Blvd, Hillsboro, OR 97124, OR Job Type Part Time Job Number 2026-144 Department Parks and Recreation Division PARKS Opening Date 05/18/2026 Closing Date 5/31/2026 11:59 PM Pacific Description Benefits Questions The City of Hillsboro's Special Events team in Parks & Recreation is seeking a Special Events Program and Facility Lead! This is an exciting opportunity to engage with the public at special events in our community. This role supports ongoing community activities such as the Hillsboro Farmers Market, Hillsboro Tuesday Night Market, OrenKoFest, the Winter Village Ice Skating Rink, and others. In this role you'll be able to connect with community members that are engaged with Hillsboro, and experience first hand how we make fun happen!
About the role:
Provides operational and program oversight of a facility in the absence of a manager or supervisor.
Leads staff including:
prioritizing and assigning work; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment. Ensures that the facility is opened, closed, and secured. Monitors collection of fees and registration including the proper handling of cash and credit card transactions. Responds to important situations regarding special events logistics. Educates and enforces policies, rules and regulations. Provides park walk-throughs and permitting assistance. Receives and responds to questions, concerns and complaints from patrons; determines issues and resolves or refers to leadership as appropriate.

  • Provides operational and program oversight of a facility in the absence of a manager or supervisor.
  • Leads staff including: prioritizing and assigning work; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Provides facility support for facility rentals, events, classes, and programs.
  • Sets-up and takes-down tables, chairs, equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains supplies, facilities repairs and inventory.
  • Educates and enforces and explains program policies, rules and regulations.
  • Monitors, opens, closes and secures the facility as needed.
  • Inspects facilities and equipment, reports issues in a timely manner to appropriate higher-level staff.
  • Receives and responds to questions, concerns and complaints from patrons and staff; determines issues and resolves or refers to leadership as appropriate.
  • Participates in meetings, training sessions, workshops and reviewing new learning resources to remain current in assigned work area.
  • Manages records and information in any format, in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations and City policy, guidance and records retention schedule.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Acceptable Experience and Training
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED and two years of related experience with one year of lead worker experience preferred; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS
Depending on assignment, some positions may require:
  • Valid Driver's License and safe driving record.
KNOWLEDGE OF
  • Principles and practices of custodial and facility operations;
  • Positive and effective customer service principles;
  • Occupational hazards and related safety precautions and practices;
  • Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Recordkeeping principles;
  • Modern office equipment.

  • Operating custodial equipment;
  • Maintaining facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner;
  • Learning, monitoring and enforcing policies, rules and regulations;
  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards;
  • Promoting a culture of teamwork and communication by working in collaboration and treating coworkers with respect and dignity and maintaining an open mind to diverse voices and ideas.
Additional Information Bilingual Incentive Pay Available Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, ASL, or any other language spoken by over 10% of the City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, will receive a monthly 3% premium pay. The incentive is only paid on hours in paid status. Proficiency will be determined by a City-administered test.
