In this role, you'll help prepare and oversee facility and activity set-up for everything from adult sports leagues and tournaments to special events and facility rentals. You'll work closely with internal teams and community partners such as the Hillsboro Hops, Portland Timbers, Portland Thorns, Portland State University, and the Hillsboro School District—helping ensure events run smoothly, safely, and on time. About Parks & Recreation Hillsboro Parks & Recreation provides programs, events, and spaces that connect people to community, wellness, and play. From youth programs to adult sports leagues and community events, our team creates welcoming experiences across a variety of facilities and parks. Position Overview & Key Responsibilities The Program and Facility Lead provides on-site support and oversight for recreational programs, events, and facility operations. This role works independently at parks and facilities, serving as the point of contact to help troubleshoot issues, support participants, and keep operations running smoothly.What You'll Be Doing:
Open, close, and secure facilities, including gates and buildings Set up and break down equipment for games, events, and programs Serve as the on-site lead for programs, games, and events, ensuring activities run safely and on time Communicate with event organizers, coaches, participants, and community partners Monitor activities and enforce facility rules and City guidelines Troubleshoot issues as they arise and escalate concerns when needed Inspect facilities and equipment; report maintenance or safety concerns Provide customer service and respond to questions or concerns Complete basic incident response and reporting as needed Confirm facilities are clean, safe, and secured at the end of each shift What You'll Need to Succeed We're looking for someone who is reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a dynamic environment: Strong communication skills with a variety of people Ability to stay calm and professional in stressful situations Problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate issues Self-directed and able to work independently Customer service mindset Experience in recreation, sports, events, or facility support (helpful, not required) Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus Job Classification For more details, please click on this link for job classification description: Program and Facility Lead Acceptable Experience and Training High School Diploma or GED and two years of related experience with one year of lead worker experience preferred; or An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties Licenses & Certifications Valid Driver's License and safe driving record Additional Information Work Environment & Schedule On-call, flexibly staffed position (approximately 5-10 hours per month) Expected to pick up at least one shift per month Shifts are primarily evenings and weekends Typical shifts range from 4-7 hours Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions Independent, on-site role at parks and recreation facilities Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require: balancing, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodation.Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
