Job Description
A new leadership role, overseeing that all Townsend orders "cross the finish line with a win" before they head out the door, serving as our Completion & Quality Lead. "We need someone to operate the whole building with a quality focus. The lab, inspection, shipping…it is a variety of skills, but it is all quality-focused and vitally important." - Job Summary People-first, manufacturing-minded, quality-driven person needed. This is a new position, a new role that we have created for new needs as we grow our team and expand the role of quality. Someone with a mix of technical skills AND people skills. We are looking for an awesome person to be the Lead for our entire Building 2. Facilitate our Quality Team with Production objectives, while also giving clear growth paths, training, and support to everyone. Put your leadership skills to use. A hands-on and hearts-in position, spent shoulder to shoulder with your team and hands on the leather. As well as time on a computer, planning, communicating, and following through on actions. You will report to the Production lead and focus on achieving production goals, maintaining safety and quality, and addressing operational issues. Organization, communication, safety, teamwork, being cool, and a drive for continuous improvement are skills that will be heavily used in this role every day.

Set and reach goals Help create amazing leather Communicate Document Organize Take action Be cool Learn Townsend Leather products in depth and with a passion for what we create Learn Townsend's manufacturing processes with a goal of becoming an expert craftsperson Executing a production plan, a team plan, and a business plan to build efficiency and quality Understand our customer and production standards to ensure error-free implementation Identify and report any manufacturing non-conformance Build fun into your day Harness the power of the Townsend quality management system Hold the team accountable to a set of key process indicators (KPIs) Ensure compliance with OSHA/safety guidelines and apply best practices for on-the-job safety in a production environment Mentor and lead your team to successDesired Qualifications:
Previous work experience in a management position Strong attention to detail Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills A cool get-sh•t-done attitude Associate degree in manufacturing, process, mechanical engineering technology or equivalent degree and/or military experience Previously succeeded in a production environment Experience in quality management systems and/or lean manufacturing Success participating in continuous improvement and/or change initiatives Skills Demonstrate success mentoring peers and/or leading a team. Aptitude in using MS Office and web-based applications in execution of day-to-day work. Continuous learning and leveraging that knowledge into a win. Ability to successfully work in any functional area of the production value stream. Active listening and influencing. Team problem-solving. Working Conditions Work in a production environment requiring standing for long periods of time. Work is carried out in a noisy and visually distracting environment. May be required to lift 70lbs or more. Near and far vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve information using a computer. NYS or equivalent Driver's License required. Moderate exposure to physical risks.
