The Compliance Specialist, under the supervision of the Sr. Manager of Compliance & EHS, will be responsible for development and application of various safety and compliance programs at an IT asset and electronics management company in the Greater Sacramento area. Programs include occupational health and safety, fire safety, emergency response, management of hazardous and other special wastes, industrial hygiene, respiratory protection, and environmental programs within the scope of EHS. This position is expected to be aware of all applicable OSHA and environmental regulations as they apply to our company and help maintain compliance with local, state and federal regulations for occupational and environmental safety. The Compliance Specialist will be trained to be familiar with the processes involved in electronic waste recovery and recycling and provide EHS support, as applicable.Essential Functions:
Assist with all aspects of EHS, including applicable regulations, certification standards, environmental record keeping, safety audits, and accident investigations. Keep the environmental record, and manuals for these programs (including but not limited to): EPA, DTSC, Water Board, Air Quality, EMD, Cal Recycle, OSHA, DOT, DMV, CDFA, and Local Fire Department. Prepare and submit periodic compliance reports to regulatory agencies as required. Develop and conduct safety and environmental training programs to the company personnel to meet requirements and to enhance the company safety culture. Provide up-to-date regulatory guidance to all departments. Implement EHS system and monitor the workplace to ensure compliance with the company policies, procedures and the local, state, and federal agencies. Conduct inspections and safety observations to detect existing or potential incident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Maintain incident, near miss and corrective/preventive action report program. Create and review reports to ensure completeness of root cause analyses and appropriate action is taken to promote positive safety culture and prevent recurrence of near misses and incidents. Track incidents and conduct investigation involving injuries to ensure all incidents are properly reported. Assist with maintaining the preparedness for Emergency Action Plans and Procedures. Monitor Hazardous Waste system to ensure regulatory compliance. Maintain safety and environmental documentation and compliance ofISO 14001 / ISO 45001 / ISO 9001 / R2
/ e-Stewards. Performs other duties as assigned.Required Skills & Abilities:
Experience with EHS management systems, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001; formal auditor training is preferred. Knowledge of and experience with reviewing and applying Federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including but not limited to DOT hazardous materials regulation, EPA Hazardous Waste regulation, RCRA, CCR, Title 22, Division 4.5 and Cal OSHA. Working knowledge of international standards and regulatory requirements . Experience developing and auditing EHS programs in industrial settings preferred. Strong organizational and analytical skills with multitask ability. Ability to learn quickly and work effectively with little supervision when needed. Experience with problem solving, able to think through a problem or to reach a solution in a timely manner. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills. Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Knowledge of electronic waste recovery and recycling processes, both upstream and downstream desirable but not essential.
