Job Title:
Commercial Concrete Crew Member Entry Level- Outdoor work (construction, landscaping, etc.) experinece required. Long-term opportunity; career growth path Job Description This role focuses on supporting commercial concrete projects, with a strong emphasis on lightweight insulated concrete systems. You will help prepare, place, finish, and repair concrete on commercial structures such as pads, structural decks, tapered concrete systems for drainage, and other elevated concrete work, often on flat roofs. The position is ideal for a detail-oriented, energetic, and safety-focused professional who enjoys working outdoors, operating tools and equipment, and contributing to high-quality construction in elevated environments. Responsibilities Assist in the preparation, placement, finishing, and repair of concrete on commercial projects, including pads, walls, structural decks, and sloped or tapered concrete for drainage. Set forms, prepare substrates, and ensure proper reinforcement on commercial structures, including work on flat roofs and elevated decks. Support concrete pours by preparing the area and base layers, assisting with concrete pumps and related equipment, and ensuring proper sequencing of work. Perform finishing tasks such as troweling, edging, broom finishing, and surface texturing to achieve specified surface quality. Repair rooftop concrete deficiencies, including spalls, cracks, expansion joints, and other surface or structural issues. Mix, pour, and level concrete while maintaining appropriate slump, consistency, and curing conditions. Coordinate with crew members and leads to follow project plans, protect substrates, and complete tasks in the correct order. Operate and assist with tools and equipment such as power trowels, screeds, floats, grinders, saws, and concrete pumps. Use saws to cut joints and perform concrete demolition when required. Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, including cleaning, inspection, and basic troubleshooting. Follow OSHA, company, and site-specific safety protocols at all times, including elevated-work safeguards. Use fall protection, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other safety devices properly while working in elevated and outdoor environments. Identify and report hazards, near-misses, and unsafe conditions immediately to help maintain a safe job site. Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and layout diagrams to understand project requirements and layout. Work effectively as part of a crew, taking direction from the lead, concrete finisher, and pump operators, while also performing tasks independently when needed. Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting 50-75 lbs, climbing, bending, and working on uneven or elevated surfaces throughout the day. Essential Skills Proven experience working as a crew member, concrete laborer, or similar role in commercial construction environments. Hands-on experience with concrete work, including form building, concrete pouring, and concrete finishing. Familiarity with lightweight insulated concrete work or a strong willingness to learn this specialized system. Knowledge of concrete curing methods, leveling, and finishing techniques, including troweling, edging, and broom finishing. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and layout diagrams. Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining productivity and safety. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work both independently and as part of a crew, following direction from leads, finishers, and pump operators. Physical ability to lift 50-75 lbs and perform sustained, physically demanding tasks throughout the workday. Experience using power tools and construction equipment such as trowels, screeds, floats, grinders, saws, and concrete pumps. Good tenure in prior relevant positions, demonstrating reliability and long-term commitment to field work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on commercial settings, including flat roofs and elevated concrete structures. History of heavy equipment operation, with skills that translate well to concrete and construction work. Experience in form building, concrete pouring, and concrete finishing in roadwork (concrete or asphalt) or similar projects. Landscape or hardscape experience that involves forming, pouring, and finishing concrete or similar materials. OSHA 10 or higher safety training certification (preferred but not required). Fall protection training and familiarity with elevated-work safety practices (preferred but not required). Aerial lift or boom lift certification (preferred but not required). The work involves regular use of construction tools and equipment such as power trowels, screeds, floats, grinders, saws, and concrete pumps. Proper personal protective equipment is required at all times, including work boots, work pants, long-sleeve shirts, hard hats, safety glasses, and safety vests. The environment can involve exposure to varying weather conditions, elevated work areas, and physically demanding tasks, requiring consistent adherence to OSHA and site-specific safety protocols. Travel may be required for projects in other states, and per diem is provided when working away from home. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
