About the Opportunity A&T Concrete Supply Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Fleet Mechanic / Diesel Technician to support the maintenance and reliability of our ready-mix concrete trucks and fleet equipment. This role is essential to keeping our operations running safely and efficiently by ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and repaired. This is a full-time, day shift position (Monday-Friday) with opportunities for overtime based on business demands. Position Summary The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on diesel-powered equipment, with an emphasis on ready-mix concrete mixer trucks. This position also supports the upkeep of additional company vehicles and heavy equipment as needed. Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel trucks and heavy equipment, including engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brake systems, and electrical components Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues and resolve them efficiently Conduct preventive maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, inspections, and DOT compliance checks Inspect equipment regularly to identify safety concerns or maintenance needs Repair or replace defective components including fuel systems, cooling systems, belts, hoses, starters, alternators, and valves Perform welding and fabrication work to repair or modify equipment when necessary Complete tire repairs and replacements as needed Maintain accurate records of repairs, labor hours, parts used, and service history Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, and team members regarding equipment status and repair needs Order parts and assist in managing inventory levels Test equipment before and after repairs to ensure proper operation Travel to plant or job locations when necessary to perform repairs Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and hazard communication standards Support continuous improvement efforts and assist with additional duties as assigned Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or GED required Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working on diesel or heavy equipment preferred Experience with ready-mix concrete trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles strongly preferred Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, fuel, air, and brake systems Welding and fabrication experience preferred Ability to use diagnostic software and standard shop tools Familiarity with DPF/emissions systems is beneficial Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50-75+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the workday Ability to work in various weather conditions Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, grease, and other shop-related elements Capable of performing repetitive tasks and working extended hours when needed What We're Looking For Self-motivated individual who can work both independently and as part of a team Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Effective communication skills (verbal and written) Good time management and organizational skills Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and reliability Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow Requirements Ability to pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing Clean driving record Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions and safety procedures Benefits A&T Concrete Supply Inc. offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees and their families: Chauffeurs, Teamsters and Helpers Local Union Number 215 participation and benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance Life and disability insurance options 401(k) retirement plan Paid time off and holidays Opportunities for overtime and career advancement Work Environment & Culture At A&T Concrete Supply Inc., we take pride in maintaining a workplace built on safety, teamwork, and accountability.
