Construction Estimator / ODOT Experienced

A leading heavy civil contractor in Dayton, Ohio, is seeking a Construction Estimator/Project Manager with proven ODOT experience to lead project procurement and bidding. This role is critical for our public works projects. The successful candidate will become a key team member, leading in project procurement and bidding for public and private projects. Growth and development opportunities are significant and will be based on the individual's skills and results. A bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus but not a requirement. Prior work experience, industry contacts, and demonstrated results are essential.

Requirements:

• Minimum five years experience in the heavy civil industry
• specifically excavation, underground utilities, and concrete.
• Experience as an Estimator with a self-performing contractor compiling unit price and lump sum estimates.
• Experience with Bid2Win and/or Heavy Bid estimating software.
• Familiarity with the Ohio Department of Transportation specifications and project execution requirements, including detailed scheduling and quality control.
• Knowledge of local and state public works contracting requirements, diversity initiatives, and prevailing wage guidelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• BS Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of Hard Bid, Design-Build, CM at Risk, CM/GC, and best-value processes is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Project selection, estimation, take-offs, business development, bid submissions, and budget preparation.
• Evaluate projects being bid for execution risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Solicit and evaluate competitive bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Provide project turnover documents and assist the Project Manager/Operations Manager during the start-up and execution of projects, including detailed schedules as required.
• Provide pricing for changes during the execution of projects and provide useful recommendations to improve project performance.
• Attend project meetings, pre-bid meetings, etc., in person to support the field execution, as required.
• Follow up with clients regarding proposal results and maintain knowledge of contract documents, specifications, and estimates.
• Initiate subcontracts and material purchase orders.
