Role:
The Construction Inspector will be responsible for inspecting and reporting on every phase of the construction process: including, but not limited to, civil (roadway, site work & utilities), structural, building, electrical, mechanical (water-main & HVAC), indoor air quality, safety, and hazardous material abatement. This position will ensure that all contract documents represented by working drawings and specifications are properly executed by the contractors. This position is also accountable for establishing and maintaining a professional working relationship with architects, engineers, testing labs, general contractors, subcontractors, owners, and the general public, where applicable.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of roadway construction methods and materials. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Strong attention to detail and observational skills. 2 years of experience inspecting all utilities, electrical, waterline installation and roadway construction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or certification in construction technology, civil engineering, or a related field. Experience with construction inspection or quality control in roadway projects including asphalt/resurfacing and utility inspection. Familiarity with state and federal roadway construction standards and regulations. Proficiency in using inspection and documentation software tools. OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour construction safety certification.
Licensures, Certifications & Registrations:
NICET, ACI, ICC or certifications related to asphalt resurfacing and erosion control required OR must be able to obtain certifications within 6 months of hire Valid State Driver's License required and maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company policy standards and ability to travel to construction sites.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily inspections of roadway construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations. Monitor materials and workmanship to verify quality standards are met, including soil compaction, asphalt paving, concrete placement, and drainage systems. Document inspection results, prepare detailed reports, and maintain accurate records of construction progress and any deviations from specifications. Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and project managers to address and resolve construction issues or non-compliance. Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements throughout the construction process. Perform other duties as required
