Job Summary Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Project Accountant is responsible for the financial management and accounting oversight of multiple construction projects simultaneously. This role works closely with Project Management, ownership, and external subcontractors to independently manage job cost reporting, contract compliance, timely billing, and reliable financial results throughout the duration of each project. Position Details This is a full-time, on-site role located in Great Neck, NY. The role may require periodic visits to active construction sites. Key Responsibilities- Manage project accounting for multiple active construction projects from pre-construction through close-out
- Maintain detailed job cost reports, forecast cost-to-complete, and analyze cost variances
- Prepare and submit monthly owner billings and payment applications in AIA format
- Partner with Project Managers to review budgets, schedule of values, cost projections, and change orders
- Review and process subcontractor invoices in accordance with contract terms
- Verify lien waivers, insurance certificates, and compliance documentation
- Assist in improving project accounting processes and internal controls
- Work closely with the Chief Financial Officer on financial reporting, accounting tasks, and other company-wide accounting and finance initiatives Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of construction accounting experience
- Strong understanding of construction job costing, AIA billing, and retainage
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and/or Procore
