area. As a Cook, you will be part of the Food Service team that provides nutritious, well-balanced meals to students and staff. This is a 32 hour/week position with a competitive pay rate and full benefits, including health/dental/vision insurance and a generous time off plan. The initial work schedule for this position will be Tuesday through Saturday.

Job responsibilities include:

Follow established menus, recipes, and any special dietary instructions to prepare, cook and serve daily meals and snacks to students and staff. Adhere to department guidelines to ensure the cleanliness, safety and organization of kitchen, food storage, and cafeteria area. Participate in various activities related to kitchen inventory, food deliveries, and quality control. Engage professionally with youth and staff to provide a positive customer service experience.

Must be able to interact well with others in a supportive environment; Solid interpersonal communication, conflict management and de-escalation skills; Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of youth, families and professionals. Possess a knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; SafeServ/Food Safety Handler certification (or willingness and ability to obtain); Previous cooking experience required, experience in an institutional or commercial food service setting is preferred; Physical requirement of this position include: frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending and regularly lifting of up to 20 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally).
