Position Summary & Responsibilities Position Summary:
Plans, organizes, and supervises security personnel on an assigned shift at Ellsworth Correctional Facility. Accounts for all personnel and keeps appropriate records of attendance and absences. Job Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Supervises employees to ensure compliance with established security rules, regulations and policies. Takes corrective action when deficiencies are encountered. Conducts weekly inspections of all areas of the facility as assigned by the Corrections Supervisor IV (Major). Ensures daily inspections are conducted in accordance with institution policy. Personally inspects all living and activity area during each tour of duty. Prepares evaluations of subordinate Corrections Supervisors in accordance with established department policy. Maintains documentations as necessary to support each evaluation. Assigns personnel to duties in accordance with established daily roster. Deviates from Master Roster only in cases when the security of the facility would be adversely affected. Ensures compliance with established daily routine/schedule. Prepares reports of any necessary deviation thereof. Conducts daily counts in accordance with established policy. Ensures all counts are properly and accurately conducted and reported. Trains subordinate personnel to perform their assigned duties. Assures all subordinates are provided clear direction in post responsibilities. Approves reports submitted by subordinate personnel, including disciplinary reports, incident reports, and narratives. Assures proper quality and timely submission. Prepares reports of major incidents. Ensures all reports are of sufficient detail and quality and are timely. Minimum Qualifications :
Must meet all minimum qualifications and necessary special requirements for COIA; be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment; have four years of relevant experience in the field of corrections or in the detention of convicted offenders including at least one year of supervisory experience and have successfully completed the Corrections Officer Training Program (COTP). At the discretion of the agency, relevant college coursework or completion of corrections officer training in another jurisdiction may be substituted for some or all of the required COTP and for some or all of the required non-supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications :
Certification as a Corrections Officer by the Secretary of Corrections. This certification is only issued upon completion of the Corrections Officer Basic Training and must be renewed annually as prescribed by the Secretary. Ability to deal effectively with individuals. Knowledge of procedures and practices of supervising residents confined to an adult maximum correctional institution. Ability to use physical force as warranted to subdue violent residents.

Selection Process:
Applicants selected for an interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior-based interview questions. The interview panel will make recommendations to the Warden for final approval. A second interview may be conducted. Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation; must pass a drug screen and a TB test unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another safety sensitive position within the same agency; and possess a valid Driver's License.
