POSITION SUMMARY

The New York State Unified Court System Children's Centers provide a safe, literacy-rich environment and support positive interventions for vulnerable children. The Program Assistant supports the Program Director in operating a structured, interactive recreational and educational drop-in program that aligns with the mission of the YMCA and the Unified Court System.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow all CDC, OCFS and DOH guidelines as they apply to programs Understand the YMCA Children's Courthouse and UCS policies and procedures Maintain standards reflective of NYS Day Care Regulation Actively engage with the children at all times. Communicate clearly, appropriately and nonthreatening at children's level Participate in quarterly fire drills Understand all paperwork and recordkeeping for the program Must work cooperatively with Program Director and other staff Must communicate professionally with parents Must attend and participate actively in staff and advisory board meetings Must attend mandatory

YMCA/UCS

training sessions twice a year Must wear either YMCA Staff shirt or YMCA Identification at all times.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Must be 18 years old Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent and/or substantial experience working with children under 13 years of age. Must be able to relate well to children and adults Required certifications CPR/First Aid
