Description:
Area Bristol Public Schools is participating in the LEAP program to address and improve students' attendance through a personal connection at our schools and in turn improve student outcomes. The BPS Non-Certified LEAP Engagement Specialists will: Complete
LEAP 101
training. Maintain an active caseload of families engaged in the LEAP process, including scheduling and completing home visits, documenting visits in the electronic Home Visitor log, meet bi-weekly with the LEAP Coordinator. Deliver LEAP materials and district information; engage families with various topics and opportunities available through the district. Make phone calls to identified students/families, with the intent of building healthy relationships with the student and families to improve attendance and removal of barriers that prevent the student from attending school or succeeding in school in general. The project will track contact made with each student and their family and its success. This position will work closely with school and district attendance team leads.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Preferred:
Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in both English and Spanish . Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with parents, staff and students.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts appropriate to the position.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic knowledge and experience with job related computer hardware and software applications. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and related software.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education Policies. Knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerschool and Munis; good telephone techniques; general office skills; adaptability; operation of office machines; accuracy; good public relation skills.
