The primary purpose for the position is to perform duties involving the maintenance and repair of power ground and other support equipment used in aircraft servicing and repairs.NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
This is an excepted position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the Connecticut Army Nional Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the Ground Support Equipment maintenance program, inventory control, and the identificion and scheduling of preventive maintenance requirements for ground support equipment. Performs required preventive maintenance and servicing of equipment including repairing and replacing tires, lubricion, oil changes, replacing air, fuel and oil filters, checking fluid levels; and adjusting or replacing ignition parts, hoses, v-belts, and other items. Performs major system component overhaul/rebuild, repair/replacement and troubleshooting as needed, to include but not limited to, power-plant systems, brake systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, diesel and gas systems, air systems, starting systems, ignition systems and electrical systems in addition to the following components, power-plant, brake, fuel, steering, hydraulic, air, starting, ignition and electrical system. Troubleshoots deficiencies and repairs flight critical equipment including lifting devices, turbine powered generors, towing devices and auxiliary power units. Trouble-shoots equipment and determines the extent of repairs as well as the parts required.WORKING CONDITIONS
Works indoors and outdoors, in inclement weher, on icy, wet and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperure and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from toxic fumes, oil, he, fluids, shock, high noise level, possible cuts, abrasions and burns, extremely low temperure cryogenic liquids and extremely high air pressures.PHYSICAL EFFORT
Frequent climbing, bending, reaching, crouching, stooping, kneeling and arm movement is required. Some work is performed in awkward positions or in cramped areas. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally lifts heavier items using jacks, hoists, or other helpers. Experience or training which demonstres the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrions, diagrams and schemics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

Experience or training must demonstre a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumic theory and the makeup and operion of the various individual systems and their interrelionships. Experience using a small variety of test and measurement devices. Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components and accessories. Experience reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and schemics.WG-10 REQUIRES 18 MONTHS
Experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operion of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelionships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schemics.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and components reled to aircraft ground equipment is required. Ability to trouble-shoot, repair, overhaul, or rebuild engines, generors, starter motors, carburetors, etc. Ability to read and use technical manuals, wiring diagrams and schemic drawings. Ability to use a wide range of test and repair equipment.COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT
