Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Culinary/Food Service Director to lead our dining and nutrition services within a vibrant care environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape culinary programs that promote health, well-being, and exceptional dining experiences for residents or patients. The ideal candidate will bring energetic leadership, innovative menu planning, and a commitment to high-quality food service that enhances overall quality of life. As a key member of the management team, you will oversee all aspects of food operations, ensuring compliance with health standards and fostering a positive, engaging atmosphere for staff and clients alike. Responsibilities Lead the culinary and dietary departments by developing and implementing comprehensive care plans focused on nutrition and wellness while cooking yourself to show team work and collaborative efforts. Supervise food service staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations to maintain a motivated and skilled team. Oversee menu planning that aligns with dietary needs such as assisted living requirements, tube feeding protocols, and diagnostic evaluation considerations. Manage budgeting processes for the dietary department, ensuring efficient resource utilization while maintaining high standards of quality. Conduct patient or resident assessments to tailor meal plans that meet individual health needs, including physiology knowledge and care plan integration. Ensure compliance with all health regulations, safety standards, and best practices in food handling, preparation, and service. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to incorporate health coaching strategies into nutritional programs and monitor progress through regular assessments. Oversee inventory management, ordering supplies efficiently to support dietary needs without waste. Promote a culture of leadership and continuous improvement within the team through coaching and professional development initiatives. Skills Experience in dietary department management within assisted living or healthcare settings. Some knowledge of nutrition science, dietetics principles, physiology, and care plans tailored to diverse patient populations. Proven supervising experience with the ability to lead teams effectively in fast-paced environments. Skilled in budgeting, resource allocation, and operational management within food service departments. Ability to develop innovative menus that meet specialized dietary requirements while maintaining variety and appeal. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents or patients, families, and staff members. Leadership qualities that inspire teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning across the department.
