Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Diesel Service Manager to lead our diesel service operations with enthusiasm and expertise. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the daily management of our diesel repair and maintenance department, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient workflow, and top-tier technical standards. Your leadership will drive the success of our service team, foster client relationships, and uphold the highest quality standards in automotive diagnostics, repairs, and fleet maintenance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence operational excellence while working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Duties Lead and supervise the diesel service department, including technicians and support staff, to ensure productivity and quality standards are met. Oversee vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance for commercial diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, suspension systems, tire services, shocks & struts, brake repairs, oil changes, wheel alignments, and other related services. Manage customer interactions by providing expert advice on repairs and maintenance needs; upsell additional services through effective client communication and sales techniques. Utilize estimating software for accurate job costing and service writing; ensure all work orders are completed thoroughly and efficiently. Coordinate with parts departments to ensure timely availability of parts needed for repairs; handle cash transactions accurately. Develop and implement operational procedures to improve workflow efficiency while maintaining safety standards. Conduct regular training sessions on automotive diagnostics, collision repair techniques, computer-aided vehicle damage estimating, and new service technologies to keep the team current. Maintain detailed records of all service activities; prepare reports on department performance; ensure compliance with industry regulations. Experience Proven dealership experience or extensive background in automotive repair management within a commercial or fleet environment. Strong mechanic experience with automotive diagnostics, transmissions, air brake systems, suspension components, tire services, shocks & struts, brake repair procedures, oil changes, wheel alignments, and collision repair. Familiarity with auto estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools. Demonstrated success in auto service management roles with a focus on customer service excellence and upselling strategies. Experience working with service technicians; ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members alike. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; willingness to drive company vehicles as needed. Knowledge of automotive repair standards combined with mechanical knowledge that supports effective troubleshooting and quality repairs. Knowledge of truck tires is a plus.
