Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Diesel Service Manager/Writer to lead our diesel repair and maintenance operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the service department's daily activities, coordinate repairs, and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction. Your expertise in diesel diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and experience will drive efficiency and quality in our service offerings. As a key communicator between technicians, foreman and customers, you will manage estimates, upselling opportunities, and service writing to deliver top-tier diesel service management. Duties Lead the diesel service department by coordinating repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance tasks with a focus on quality and efficiency Prepare accurate estimates using estimating software, ensuring transparency and customer understanding Review detailed service reports and communicate repair recommendations clearly to customers Upsell additional services such as transmissions, oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, tire services, shocks, air brakes, and other maintenance needs Oversee the workflow of technicians, ensuring timely completion of repairs while maintaining high standards of workmanship Manage customer interactions by providing exceptional client communication, explaining repairs and timelines thoroughly, and addressing questions or concerns Handle financial transactions accurately while maintaining proper documentation for all services performed Greet customers, document vehicle symptoms accurately upon arrival, and explain complex technical issues in plain terms. Skills Extensive mechanic experience with a strong background in diesel diagnostics and repair techniques Proficiency with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools Proven shop management experience with a focus on diesel service management Strong knowledge of diesel systems including transmissions, oil changes, brakes, suspension components, shocks, air brakes, and A/C Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients Ability to upsell services effectively while maintaining integrity and customer trust Experience with service writing roles involving detailed documentation of repairs and estimates Familiarity with diesel repair procedures such as vehicle maintenance inspections and mechanical troubleshooting Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for test drives or vehicle inspections as needed Oversee billing, close out invoices, track warranty claims, and maintain compliance records like DOT inspections Join our team to lead a vibrant service department where your mechanical expertise and customer-focused approach will drive success! Pay:
$25.00 - $38.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
