Job Description

The Museum is accepting applications for the position of Host. The Host serves as the primary employee for Admissions and Parking Lot, as well as providing support to the Gift Shop and Soda Fountain in host capacities, working part-time hours between the stations while maintaining a friendly, welcoming, engaging, and pleasant attitude. Under the direction of the Director of Visitor Experiences and Senior Operations Manager, this team member is responsible for providing a "one-of-a-kind experience" to the Museum's 200,000+ annual visitors. This position is the first point of contact for all visitors to the Museum and should be providing top level customer service at all touch points, especially during peak times. Host Types - Minimum of two host roles required per team member. We operate in a consistently busy, high-energy environment where flexibility, attentiveness, and strong guest service skills are essential. Hosts play a critical role in ensuring smooth operations and a welcoming experience for all visitors. Each role requires a proactive attitude and the ability to stay composed under pressure. Admissions Host (stipend eligible) Handles ticket sales at the front desk. Educates visitors on our nonprofit mission and consistently secures donations. Must maintain an average of $1+ in donations per transaction and is required to ask every visitor. Soda Fountain Host (tips & stipend eligible) Operates the Soda Fountain register and takes visitor orders. Focuses on upgrades from free drinks and delivering exceptional customer service. Thrives in high-volume, high-energy environments. Visitor Host Greets visitors at the museum entrance or Gift Shop entrances, serves as an Event Host, or supports in KR Galleries. This person is primarily directing traffic, answering general questions, and facilitating the movement of visitors with reservations for Make a Soda out of the Admissions line during busy days. Maintains a warm, welcoming presence throughout the space. Parking Lot Host Assists with facilitation of parking spot sales via HONK vendor and enforcement. Assists visitors with parking-related questions and ensures safety and flow. Requires high vigilance and clear communication.
Knowledge / Skills
/ Experience Maintain the highest standards of friendly, helpful and responsive service in a fast-paced customer service environment. Ensures that all transactions are properly recorded while at the Admissions desk, Parking lot or Soda Fountain register. Must pay attention to detail for opening and closing of both stations. Must be willing to stand on your feet for multiple hours at a time. Must be able to engage visitors to create a positive experience. Must possess warm, outgoing and professional public presence. Must have previous sales and customer service experience. Must be courteous and helpful at all times with visitors and co-workers. Track visitor attendance using the Museum's point-of-sale (POS) software system. Must meet monthly goals for promotion of the Museum's 10-2-4 Challenge Grant by successfully requesting contributions from visitors if working as an Admissions Host. Must meet monthly goals for upgrades at the Soda Fountain if working as a Soda Fountain Host. Must have excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of the Museum team. Immediate knowledge of Waco area attractions and amenities. Must be willing to take on other tasks as assigned. Special Abilities / Requirements Must be willing and available to work a minimum of 12 hours for your first 60 days. Learns the information necessary to answer questions about the Museum, experiences, and the Soda Fountain menu Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) Familiarity with POS cashier software Must be able to pass a criminal background check Must have a current, valid Texas driver license Must have access to reliable transportation Ready to join us? and become part of a team that thrives on energy, hospitality, and a whole lot of soda fizz.

Are you available to work both weekdays and weekends? We require both for hiring. How many hours are you looking to work weekly? Please note that our minimum is 12 and our maximum is 29 for this position. What days and times would you be available to work? Please be as specific as possible. If you are in school, please include that as well. The Museum is open 10AM to 5:30PM every day of the week. Opening shifts start around 9 and closers get out around 6:30 PM.
