Job Description

Job Summary:
The Customer Service Representative consistently anticipates and meets the needs of the patients. Follows established guidelines to receive and answer patient questions, comments, or complaints. Obtains patient demographic, insurance, and guarantor information required to register patients into LLEAP to ensure that complete and accurate accounts are produced. Reviews estimates and collects all deductibles, co-payments, and cash rates in accordance with the terms and conditions of the various contracts still outstanding at check in. Ensures compliance with all mandated Federal, State and County regulatory requirements and hospital policies. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience:
Minimum one year of hospital-based registration experience specializing in managed care, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and California Children's Services preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent Customer Service Skills required. Able to write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; deliver the highest level of customer service to all patients, family, internal and external customers; use a computer, printer, and software programs necessary to position (e.g., Microsoft applications, patient accounting, registration and insurance eligibility applications); operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the job. Able to communicate in English; relate positively, effectively and professionally with others; provide leadership and supervision; be consistent in following policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; teach and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English, in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently and with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; demonstrate good memory; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; write, hear, read and speak sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to the position.
