Medical Phone Room Call Center Operator Reports to Director of Office Operations As experts in their fields, our specialists and orthopaedic doctors at Vero Orthopaedics apply their dedication and expertise to provide customized treatment plans focused on your needs and goals. Summary The appointment scheduler answers a multi-line phone system quickly and efficiently. Calls are directed to their destination, patient appointments are made, messages are created in EHR to be forwarded to the clinical department, appointment confirmation calls are made, appointment cancellations and reschedules are completed. Physician appointment templates are monitored and modified as needed.
Responsibilities:
Greet telephone callers and find out the nature of their inquiry. Receives calls, obtains name, determines nature of call, and refers the call appropriately, entering required information into EHR template. Information collected must be clear, concise, and useful. Inputs patient information into practice management software and edits data as necessary when changes occur. Operate telephone system to connect, hold, and transfer telephone calls. Schedule, confirm, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments. Maintains electronic appointment schedule. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. (Obituaries, no show list, call confirmation list and incoming faxes)
Administrative Support:
Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the Administrator or the Board, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Performance Standards:
Skilled at using a computer, can type without looking at the keys. Ability to multitask with phones, messages, and other responsibilities. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to type information and complete tasks with detailed precision. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff. Medical terminology is helpful. Maintains strictest confidentiality of patient information and office business practices. Skill in obtaining and maintaining accurate records in all aspects of medical office. Ability to document legibly and to spell medical and pharmaceutical terminology correctly. Training in appropriate telephone operations. Position Relationships Does not supervise any other employees. Receives supervision from office manager on administrative and all other matters.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic computer skills. 1 year of medical office experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Requires sitting for long periods of time with frequent standing, walking, and bending required. Must be able to view and enter data into the computer for extended periods. Must be able to communicate via the telephone. Must have dependable transportation.
