Service Writer - Off-Road Shop
Job Description
Job Summary Apex Offroad is moving to Nampa October 2026! We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Service Writer for our Off-Road Shop to serve as the primary point of contact between customers and our automotive service team. The ideal candidate will possess strong dealership experience, automotive diagnostics knowledge, aftermarket Toyota and Jeep parts and excellent customer service skills. This role involves managing service orders, communicating repair needs, ordering parts and ensuring a seamless service experience for clients with off-road and specialty vehicle needs. A background in automotive repair, mechanical knowledge, aftermarket sales/installation and sales experience will be highly valued to support customer needs and vehicle maintenance services. Responsibilities Greet customers promptly and professionally, establishing a positive rapport. Answer the phone to help customers get the information they need. Write detailed service orders based on customer descriptions of issues or requested services. Communicate effectively with technicians regarding vehicle repairs, diagnostics, and estimated timeframes. Upsell additional services such as wheels/tire services, alignments, suspension work, brake repairs, and other automotive repairs including shock rebuilds, skid plates, bumpers, other suspension parts and more. Provide accurate auto estimating and explain repair recommendations clearly to customers. Handle cash/card transactions accurately and process payments efficiently. Maintain detailed records of customer interactions and service history. Coordinate with parts department for availability of parts needed for repairs or maintenance. Ensure customer satisfaction by providing professional advice on vehicle maintenance and repair options. Order parts for jobs from wholesale accounts and distributors. Experience Prior dealership experience or auto service management background preferred. Hands-on mechanic experience with automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, and repair procedures. Understanding of aftermarket parts and accessories for Jeeps and Toyotas. Familiarity with auto estimating software (Shopboss) and sales techniques related to automobile sales. Knowledge of various automotive systems including suspension systems, overland accessories, alignments, tire services, brake systems, gearing, etc. Experience in auto service writing or automotive service management is highly desirable. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to customers clearly.
