Technical Sales & Customer Solutions Specialist Walz Scale | East Peoria, IL | Full-time, on-site | Expected compensation: $80,000+ annually (hourly base plus commission) About Walz Scale Walz Scale is a global leader in precision weighing and volumetric measurement equipment and a trusted supplier to the transportation, mining, agriculture, chemical, and recycling industries. Known for innovation, Walz Scale developed the first and only NTEP Legal-for-Trade Certified bulk volumetric load-scanning technology. For more than 60 years, Walz Scale has combined high-quality products—including onboard scales, truck scales, mining axle scales, and volumetric measurement systems—with advanced data integration and a robust global support network. Position Overview Walz Scale is seeking a customer-focused technical sales professional to guide customers from initial discovery through implementation and ongoing support. This person will build business relationships, identify the right solution, and act as the communication bridge between customers and our programming team when technical issues or new software requirements arise. Success requires curiosity, sound technical judgment, careful documentation, and the ability to translate between operational and technical language. Key Responsibilities
- Prospect for new business, manage assigned opportunities, and develop lasting customer relationships.
- Lead discovery conversations to understand the customer's equipment, workflow, operating environment, and business objectives.
- Recommend and demonstrate solutions that combine industrial hardware, software, communications, and data integration.
- Act as the primary customer-to-programmer liaison for troubleshooting, integrations, configuration questions, and enhancement requests.
- Translate customer descriptions into clear technical problem statements, including actual behavior, expected behavior, impact, and reproduction steps.
- Collect relevant logs, screenshots, error messages, software versions, network details, equipment information, and examples before escalation.
- Communicate programmer findings and technical solutions back to customers in understandable, practical language.
- Coordinate internal and customer follow-up, track open issues, and maintain ownership through resolution.
- Support installations, training, site visits, and trade shows while maintaining an accurate CRM pipeline.
- Identify recurring customer needs and market opportunities that may inform future products or software capabilities. Qualifications
- Proven consultative sales and relationship-management skills.
- Technical and mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand integrated industrial systems.
- Strong analytical troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Practical familiarity with software, system configuration, networking concepts, and data flow.
- Exceptional ability to communicate with both nontechnical customers and programmers or technical specialists.
- Ability to write clear issue summaries and accurately document technical details.
- Strong follow-through, organization, and ownership of customer outcomes.
- Ability to learn new products and technologies quickly.
- Willingness to work full-time on-site in East Peoria and travel as needed.
- Expected annual compensation of $80,000 or more through an hourly base rate plus commission
