Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and organized Customer Service Representative to support our furniture delivery operations. This is a back-end customer service position focused primarily on answering incoming calls, contacting customers, scheduling furniture deliveries and pickups, and helping resolve delivery-related questions.
The ideal candidate communicates clearly, stays calm when handling customer concerns, and is comfortable working with computers while managing multiple orders and schedules. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Answer incoming customer calls regarding furniture deliveries, pickups, and order status. Contact customers whose merchandise is ready and arrange a delivery or pickup date. Confirm customer contact information, delivery addresses, balances due, and scheduling details. Coordinate delivery appointments based on available routes, delivery capacity, and merchandise readiness. Enter and update delivery appointments accurately in the company's order-management and scheduling systems. Review customer orders to verify that merchandise is available and ready before scheduling. Provide customers with delivery timeframes, preparation instructions, pickup information, and company policies. Explain that delivery times are estimated and help customers understand what to expect on delivery day. Document all customer conversations, appointment changes, special instructions, and unresolved concerns. Reschedule deliveries when customers, merchandise, trucks, or routes are unavailable. Communicate special delivery circumstances to dispatchers, warehouse personnel, drivers, sales associates, and store management. Assist with questions involving damaged, missing, delayed, or incorrect merchandise and direct the issue to the appropriate department. Handle upset customers professionally and work toward a reasonable resolution. Monitor scheduled deliveries and follow up on orders that still require customer contact. Maintain accurate and complete records while protecting customer information. Perform other customer-service and delivery-support duties as assigned. Computer Knowledge and Skills Needed Candidates should be comfortable performing everyday computer tasks, including: Using a Windows-based computer. Answering calls through a multi-line telephone or computer-based phone system. Entering customer and order information accurately. Navigating several programs or screens at the same time. Using order-management, inventory, and delivery-scheduling software. Reading and updating customer accounts and order notes. Using Microsoft Outlook for email and calendar functions. Using Microsoft Excel and Word at a basic level. Searching for orders by customer name, phone number, order number, or delivery address. Sending professional emails and internal messages. Learning company systems such as STORIS and DispatchTrack. Maintaining accuracy while typing and speaking with customers. Recognizing suspicious emails and following basic password and data-security practices. Previous STORIS, DispatchTrack, furniture retail, logistics, or delivery-scheduling experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous customer service, call-center, office, dispatching, scheduling, or retail experience is preferred. Strong telephone and communication skills. Basic computer knowledge and accurate data-entry skills. Ability to remain professional when working with frustrated customers. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize calls and tasks in a busy office environment. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, warehouse teams, drivers, sales associates, and management. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Delivery Scheduling Customer Service Representative:
Answers calls promptly and professionally. Schedules appointments accurately. Provides customers with clear and correct information. Keeps complete notes on every customer interaction. Catches order or scheduling problems before delivery day. Communicates effectively with the warehouse and delivery teams. Helps reduce missed deliveries, scheduling errors, and customer complaints. Follows through until each issue reaches the correct person or department. Work Environment This is an office-based position that requires extended periods of sitting, telephone communication, and computer use.
