The duties of the Cashier are to be performed by demonstrating and encouraging Northwest Hardware's core values in order to achieve our vision of being the place that locals can rely on, and visitors must see. The Cashier is responsible for ensuring customers have an exceptional experience when shopping in our store. The ability to truly leave a positive impression on our customers is the goal for every cashier. Thus, a personality and approach that strongly supports and represents the Northwest Core Values and Expectations is required. An enthusiastic, positive, and supportive attitude is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cashiering:
Ensure each customer receives outstanding customer service by upholding the Northwest Hardware Core Values and following the Cashier Training Manual. Quickly and accurately ring out customers while maintaining a pleasant and professional attitude Issue receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers using Northwest Hardware policies and procedures Promote and encourage customers to open DIB Rewards Account Answer phones and assist customers with their inquiries in a timely manner Aid customers in locating merchandise in store and on online, as well as processing special orders Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements Keep cash stands clean and neat - own them as if they were your living space Keep Impulse area neat and well stocked Keep cash stands well stocked with bags, receipt paper and other supplies needed Able to help with freight, load outs and other responsibilities as needed Conscious of shoplifting activity and report to management immediately. Day Operations:
Execute the daily operational, day to day goals and priorities assigned by store management Assist in the training and development of peers as requested by store management Utilizes Dexter as assigned by store management Actively participate in huddle meetings Responsive to safety issues Participate in daily cleaning tasks - e.g., Bathrooms, floors, trash Day to

Minimum Requirements:
The minimum requirements for this position include:
Education/Training:
High School diploma or GED equivalent or a current student.
Experience:
Experience in a retail environment either in cashier, sales, or back office Experience in other "people focused" positions or endeavors.
Skills/Knowledge:
Ability to process information and/or find information through register system (Point of Sale) Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learn. Knowledge of retail computer systems, electronic cash registers, MS Word, and Excel a plus. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business. A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction. Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
Physical Requirements:
The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff and customers a normal in-person and phone conversation.

Rate of Pay:
Dependent upon education and experience.
